Outdoor Activities Unique to Vancouver

There’s no arguing that Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world during the Spring and Summer months. As the clouds clear, temperatures rise and flowers blossom, Vancouverites reawaken from their winter slumber and the city comes back to life. Given Vancouver’s incredible terrain, there are so many outdoor activities to take part in.

Stanley Park Seawall

Sure, it’s a bit of a cliche, but ask any Vancouverite what outdoor activity you should try while visiting Vancouver and they’ll definitely suggest visiting the Stanley Park Seawall. Rent a bike, roller skates or strap on your running shoes and soak up all the beauty this 10km seawall has to offer.

Grouse Grind

Located in beautiful North Vancouver, the Grouse Grind is one of Vancouver’s most popular hikes. The Grind isn’t the easiest of hikes, but you’ll feel like you’ve conquered the world after scaling this 2.9km trail up the face of Grouse Mountain. It’ll take a bit of mental preparation, but you know what they say; No pain, no gain!

Granville Island

Not in the mood for climbing a mountain? Head on over to one of Vancouver’s most popular destinations; Granville Island. Take a walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the Burrard Inlet, enjoy lunch one of Granville Island’s many restaurant’s patios or head inside to the Granville island public market. The Public Market boasts an assortment of colourful stalls that feature local, homegrown produce and handmade goods. If you’re looking for souvenirs and gifts to take back home, this is the place to be. You’ll find anything from handmade jewelry, fine arts and soaps to homemade jams, sauces and snacks.

Paddle Boarding

Now that you’ve stocked up on local goods from the Granville Island Market, you can head over to the Ecomarine Paddleboard Centre for some outdoor fun. Jump into a kayak or hop onto a stand up paddle board and soak up the sun while cruising through the Burrard Inlet. Not only is this a fun and relaxing activity, but it’s a great work out too!

Beach Volleyball

Beach volleyball is a very popular sport here in Vancouver during the warmer months. It’s a fun reason to get outdoors, great work out, awesome way to meet new people and it doesn’t cost a thing. Vancouver Whitecaps Game

Join thousands of Vancouver Whitecaps fans at BC Place as they support Vancouver’s only professional soccer team. The Whitecaps, who are currently celebrating their 30th anniversary as a club, play top teams throughout North America. Make your way over to BC place for one of their games for an incredible soccer experience. Whistler Bungee

Have you ever woken up in the morning with an urge to do something crazy and adventurous? Why not jump off a 160 foot bridge suspended by your feet over a glacier-fed river? If you’re an adrenaline junkie looking for your fix, take a drive up the scenic sea-to-sky highway and make your way over to Whistler Bungee for an experience you will not forget!
