Back in its 35th year with the Theme Region - California and a Global Focus on Chardonnay. - the Vancouver Wine Festival runs from February 25th to March 3rd, 2013.

The wine world is here for Canada’s premier wine show. The Wine Fest is one of the biggest and oldest wine events in the world, offering something for every level of wine drinker, collector and trade professional. Winery principals (winemaker, proprietor, senior executive) representing 175 selected wineries from 15 countries will be in attendance to pour and discuss their wines. Every year, this international festival shines the spotlight on one country or region, and that region has more wineries, wines and events than any other. There also is a global varietal focus: For 2013, the regional theme is California and the global focus is Chardonnay. The Festival will take place in the beautiful Vancouver Convention Center West.

Although the weekend is packed with wine seminars, luncheins and industry events – nothing beats the Tasting Room where you can hop from country to country sampling all of the different wines.

Once you enter the Tasting Room, you’re handed an empty glass and a license to start sampling! Everything is on display and nothing is off limits. Sample the very best of wine, port, rosé, sparkling, erlot, champaign and plenty more! Not a wine coneisseur? No worries! Each winery booth will give you the rundown on exactly what you’re tasting whether you’re a novice or a pro. And don’t forget to pace yourself  though….because you can take back 3 or 4 glasses of wine in just a few minutes…

2013 Chinese New Year Brunch at the Café Pacifica Restaurant

Chinese New Year 2013 – Come celebrate the Year of the Snake at the Pan Pacific Vancouver! 

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festival in the Chinese calendar. On Sunday February 10, the Pan Pacific Vancouver will celebrate the occasion with a unique Chinese New Year Brunch Buffet in the lobby of the Hotel & the Cafe Pacifica Restaurant.

The annual event is a fan favorite as each year the Hotel hosts a lavish buffet, live entertainment and some very unique dessert creations including this year’s chocolate dipped fortune cookies from our Pastry Kitchen.

Next Sunday, the Chefs will put together a buffet menu including traditional Chinese items, fresh sushi and several live action stations.

Kicking off this past weekend, Tourism Vancouver presents its 11th annual Dine Out Vancouver Food Festival (Jan 18 – Feb 3).

The concept is simple: Vancouver’s hottest restaurants (over 200) are teaming up to offer a special 3 course menu at prices of $18, $28 or $38 per person. Dine Out is a great way to sample Vancouver restaurants at an affordable price and a perfect excuse to induldge in some great tasting food!

Pan Pacific Vancouver Christmas Wish Breakfast…Only 2 days to go!

Instead of putting your toys under the Christmas Tree, why not make the Christmas Tree out of toys? ….Around 25,000 toys!

In less than 48 hours the Pan Pacific Vancouver Christmas Wish Breakfast – one of the Nation’s largest toy drives – will take place in the lobby of the hotel. Back for its 25th straight year, the Wish Breakfast calls everyone from the Vancouver area to come down to the Hotel and donate a new unwrapped toy to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, which helps underprivileged kids during Christmas time in our local communities. As a thank you from the Hotel, we will offer you a FREE hot (delicious) buffet breakfast on the house. Here’s the scoop:

Bring a Toy, Enjoy Breakfast, Feel GOOD!

Come down to the Hotel between 6am-9am on Thursday December 13 and leave your toy(s) in our giant pile (with the assistance of the Vancouver Fire Department). You can bring an unlimited number of toys, however we would like to remind the public not to bring stuffed animals (we receive far too many each year and the children in most need are teenagers). If you’d prefer, you can make your donation online to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. After you drop off your toy, enjoy a hot buffet breakfast and take in the sights and sounds including live music from the Good News Gospel Choir, a live look at the Global BC and Jack FM Morning Shows and chance to talk to Santa Clause himself.

Don’t forget – This year we’re also giving all attendees a chance to win a 2 night stay at the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel by entering our Christmas Wish Photo Contest! All you have to do is snap your best photo from the Breakfast and upload it onto our Facebook wall. You don’t have to be a pro – all you have to do is capture your best shot of the Christmas spirit. Gifts in Need for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau and Xmas Wish Breakfast

As the days count down, you’re probably aware that the 25th annual Pan Pacific Vancouver Christmas Wish Breakfast is taking place on Thursday December 13 from 6-9 at the Hotel. (For more info visit our Xmas Wish Announcement post).

Each year the Hotel receives thousands of toys that are donated to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. The gift most commonly given are stuffed animals for kids – however teenagers are in the most need of toys during the Holidays season. While the Xmas Bureau appreciates ALL gifts given, they request that donors offer toys for older kids and teenagers……and even put together a wish list for Santa!
