The wait is finally over. Today officially marks day 1 of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games! The Games are definitely the unanimous conversation piece around the dinner table, the water cooler, and your favorite social media website.

But as the hype and anticipation continues, people are still wondering where to look for information on what to do, what to see, what is free and where to be!

No need to panic! I have you covered with your own last minute guide for everything you’ll need in order to have a successful and memorable 2010 Games.

1)  Events You Need To See

Get started on your quest to becoming the ultimate Winter Games expert. You can either view the complete listing of all sporting events or take a look at ESPN’s events you just can’t miss.

2)  Television Schedule

Unless you can afford to attend all of your favourite events, you’ll likely be watching most of them on the tube.  Here is a complete listing for all events shown on TV by the official television providers, CTV and NBC.

Let’s face it, with all the hype and attention for this year’s games, things can get a little bit pricey.  Give your wallet a rest, and check out the Free Events Guide taking place throughout the Games.

As you’ve probably noticed already, many of the roads are closed due to pedestrian traffic and security.

5)  Country Houses

To get a truly unique perspective on this month Games, don’t miss News 1130’s list of the various cultural houses hosted by different countries participating in the Winter Games.  Various pavilions will provide native food, drinks and ceremonies for its respective country’s.  From the USA House to the Ukraine House, you will be given a unique opportunity to take in some new culture without travelling the world.

For where to eat this month, be sure to visit the Pan Pacfic Vancouver.  The Pan is hosting a unique 2010 Game’s Menu which includes a variety of specialty items from various countries including: new tapas items, main courses, desserts and drinks.  The project is our way of showcasing the spirit of the Games and the diversity of our city.

7)  Concerts

9) How to Get Around Vancouver

Vancouver is expecting almost a million extra visitors to our city and that can mean trouble for commuters.  The City of Vancouver has provided an comprehensive list of all changes and additions to transportation during the Game’s.  Included is everything from public transit schedules to biking and walking routes in the city.  This one is definitely worth a read!
